New BackupAgent Cloud is Tailored to MSPs

Dutch cloud backup platform provider BackupAgent has expanded its offerings with the announcement of a new global cloud backup service geared toward managed service providers (MSPs). The solution is built on the company’s platform and hosted in BackupAgent data centers, located throughout the world.

The BackupAgent Cloud service may be private labeled by MSPs and offers quick deployment, scalability, multi-tenant installation and monitoring. Those features are attractive for service providers, who are continuously trying to up the ante by offering their customers more security and value-added features.

BackupAgent has an interesting business model in that it does not sell direct to end users. The company has an extensive partner program with more than 400 members in 50-plus countries and focuses on MSPs, telcos, system integrators and VARs. Building on an established customer base for its cloud backup platform, the new service takes on targeted, service provider-oriented offerings from companies like Asigra, CloudBerry, Intronis, Vembu and Zetta.

Client software for BackupAgent Cloud is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, and the solution also supports some major apps like Microsoft Outlook, MS Hyper-V Server, MS Exchange Server, MS SQL Server and My SQL. The service also integrates with a variety of remote management tools and control panels, including Autotask, Kaseya, LabTech, Parallels Automation, WHMCS, Citrix CloudPortal and HostBill.

“Our offering is very competitive to quickly gain market share and we see it is paying off,” said Roland Sars, found and CCO of BackupAgent. “More than 100 resellers already signed up; from large telcos to regional MSPs.”

CompTIA recently released its “Quick Start Guide to Managed Services,” which provides advice about how MSPs can move beyond a “break-fix” approach and provide new value-added services. And of course customers are a major resource when it comes to determining which services are in demand. Cloud backup services are not only in high demand, but customers are seeking solutions from trusted service providers. MSPs are in an ideal position to offer cloud backup to broaden their portfolios while generating new revenue and becoming more differentiated and competitive.
