On Oct. 3, ViaWest, a colocation provider in North America with 24 data centers providing colocation, managed-hosting and cloud services to business of all sizes nationwide, announced the appointment of Todd Meester as its regional vice president and general manager of the Minnesota region. Meester was formerly the general manager and regional director of enterprise markets for Level 3 Communications in the Midwest of the U.S.
Meester’s history in the local technology community, his relationships with the people, expert leadership and commitment to service excellence made him a great addition to the company’s team, according to Christopher Rajiah, senior vice president of sales and marketing at ViaWest.
Rajiah stated that he looks forward to working alongside Meester ,who will oversee the Minneapolis data center and be responsible for growing the overall business segment of the company’s complete package of colocation, managed services and cloud offerings in the Minnesota market. His position and role for ViaWest will be similar to his former position in contributing to local community endeavors.
ViaWest's Minneapolis data center will be completed sometime in the first quarter of 2014. It will “offer its comprehensive suite of premium wholesale and retail colocation, managed and cloud services, along with hybrid combinations to meet growing demand for flexible and scalable IT solutions,” declared the company. The Minneapolis site is expected to be a 28-acre campus environment, with the data center to encompass 150,000 square feet, and have over 70,000 square-feet of raised floor space, as mentioned on the official website.
Furthermore, ViaWest’s plan is to build the facility to be fault tolerant, with intentions to pursue the North American Tier IV design certification from the Uptime Institute, the leading educational and standards organization in the industry. The Tier IV is the highest tier in Uptime's rating system for reliability of infrastructure supporting data centers.
Initiatives like this just go to show how committed ViaWest is to providing companies secure colocation services that will help growth and meet compliance requirements. Having a colocation provider facility in place for Minnesota business and technology sectors will give peace of mind to consumers, knowing that their data, applications and equipment will always be available and at reach. Such measures will maximize uptime and provide a robust IT infrastructure backup solution, for the community, by means of ViaWest’s solid data center environment, once setup and led by Meester and his team.
