Stratogent Brings Closes Sale on Rental Roost

By Doug Barney

Stratogent, a Bay area IT provider, just struck a deal to run IT for Rental Roost, a Bay area online apartment finder.

As a startup, Rental Roost should really focus on its new business rather than building and managing infrastructure.

The company has a pretty slick approach. “Rental Roost has been helping renters find their perfect home since 2012. Using proprietary algorithms, Rental Roost recommends the best properties to suit each renter’s lifestyle - whether it’s a pet-friendly townhome, a spacious single family home in a great school district, a condo close to a commuter line, or a gorgeous studio close to bars, restaurants and theaters,” Rental Roost said.

Now it can spend all of its time perfecting that Web technology and getting its name out there as Stratogent will monitor and manage Rental Roost apps and infrastructure around the clock.

“We needed a partner that understands our business and has the track record of working with Internet startups. We also were looking for guidance on how to architect systems that would scale on-demand, while still being economical. Finally, we wanted someone to own the responsibility of 24x7 operations and not have to ramp up and spend on IT staff,” said Nitin Shingate of Rental Roost, Inc.

Stratogent, an eight-year-old IT provider, “installs and operates backend computer systems in professional data centers, customer premises and the cloud. We take care of the entire data center infrastructure including all the hardware, networking, security, operating systems, storage, databases, backups and disaster recovery,” the company said, adding that it provides 99.9 percent system availability.

The Stratogent Way

Stratogent focuses on four fundamental aspects of IT: creating a solution, hosting, handling operations and management.

The company claims to be technology-neutral, so it can pretty much deal with whatever you have installed. Or at least 90 percent of what is generally installed, the company said. As part of that neutrality, Stratogent is not a reseller.

The company takes particular pride in how it delivers services. “Each of our customers gets assigned a team-lead backed by two more senior engineers who can step in as team-leads for any 24x7 issue. Behind them is a set of administrators, backed by a set of subject matter experts. Each team member is intimately familiar with your systems and processes. So whether we are doing proactive maintenance or responding to a situation, the engineers who work with you are knowledgeable and are have the full context. This improves our quality of service and your experience is truly like having a set of dedicated people working with you,” the company said.
