Tech Data Partners with Intermedia on SMB Cloud Offerings

By Michael Mayday

Tech Data has teamed up with Intermedia to make Intermedia's Hosted PBX and Cloud Server available through TDCloud. That partnership enables more than 60,000 Tech Data providers to resell Hosted PBX and Cloud Server for small to medium business (SMB) customers.

Good news, too, as the SMB market tends to adopt new virtualization or cloud computing technologies faster than most enterprise-sized businesses. Offering more options to that market, for when they need to expand or otherwise, is an asset.

That need is not lost on major corporations like Google, which is also pushing to provide SMBs with cloud solutions. Most recently, Google India announced it will cut 45 percent off of its pricing for Google Apps for Business. And according to CNBC's, the country's SMB market is showing a 14 percent rise in information and communication technology annually, and cloud computing is pushing a large part of that growth.

"Almost every SMB needs a phone system and most are taking a look at a cloud voice solution," Earl Martin, chief operating officer at TFC.NET Corporation, said in a statement. "Intermedia's Hosted PBX offers the business critical features my customers are looking for. Intermedia's superior migration support enables my business to get my customers up and running. Additionally, the product offering allows us to individually brand the entire service. In partnership with Tech Data, we are able to bundle in our high-margin managed services, while maintaining full control over our customer relationships."

Intermedia offers SMBs with a variety of cloud offerings, ranging from file sharing and syncing to backups and security. More recently, cloud computing has given SMBs their own access to big data and big data processing. And that's no small matter: Ginni Rometty, the first female CEO of IBM, tells that data and data analytics will be "the next natural resource."
