GoTo Introduces New Software Asset Management Features for GoTo Resolve

By Stefania Viscusi

GoTo, a provider of IT management and support solutions, announced new software asset management capabilities have been added to its GoTo Resolve platform.

The new features are a response to growing concerns over software underutilization. Results of a recent survey from Vertice reveal that over 30 percent of software licenses go unused or underused, costing companies millions annually.

With the new features, businesses can reduce software waste, optimize spending, and improve compliance, ultimately leading to greater cost savings and more efficient IT operations.

With a unified view of both software licenses and hardware inventory, businesses can also monitor their entire IT infrastructure from a single, streamlined platform.

Additional key features include:

  • Unified Management: GoTo Resolve provides centralized oversight for software and hardware assets, enabling IT teams to manage software lifecycles, ensure security, and maintain visibility through a single dashboard.
  • Enhanced Application Visibility: The platform offers automated, real-time software discovery that tracks where applications are installed, monitors usage by device, and lists version details. This includes hardware data such as assigned users, device location, and serial numbers.
  • Improved Spend Control: GoTo Resolve helps IT teams manage software licenses more effectively by sending automated reminders for renewals, tracking over-utilization, and identifying inactive software installations that can be canceled to avoid unnecessary spending.
  • Enhanced Compliance and Security: The platform simplifies compliance tracking by monitoring license usage and ensuring that all installed software meets regulatory standards. It also reduces security risks by flagging outdated or non-compliant applications.
  • Simplified Onboarding and Offboarding: IT teams can easily allocate the right software to new employees based on department needs and recover licenses from employees who leave the organization.

“IT ecosystems continue to grow more complex with employees and devices spread around the world, and with IT teams already overburdened, businesses need a simpler way to manage these systems,” said Olga Lagunova, Chief Product and Technology Officer at GoTo.

“By offering a unified solution for managing both software and hardware assets, along with remote monitoring and management (RMM), remote support and access, and mobile device management (MDM) – with zero trust security controls – we're enabling our customers to optimize their IT operations, reduce costs, and ensure compliance all within a single, easy-to-navigate interface."
