MSPs, Make Your Back Office Another Digital Endpoint

By Bill Yates

MSPs know Acronis as one of the major suppliers of internet security and backup software. At MSP Expo 2023, the company’s leading product marketer wanted to speak about their back-office software.

James Abercrombie, ISV technical evangelist at Acronis, began his discussion by telling people how the Acronis package helps MSPs, and their clients, integrate their back-office functions into their network.

His talk was titled “How MSPs are Expanding Their Margins and Reducing Operational Time.”

Acronis offers endpoint management services as part of its cyber security packages. Abercrombie said you should make your back office another digital endpoint that resides on your network.

Abercrombie said that automating invoice services, such as pulling reports and reconciling line items, can have a direct impact on your bottom line. “How many solutions are you bringing to management that can make you a profit?” he asked.

It was a good start. Soon, though, the benefits to be derived from deploying professional-services automation software soon gave way to an explanation of how MSPs can employ cloud-security software to protect themselves from attack. After all, system security software is what Acronis is known for.

Since it was founded in 2001, Acronis has kept pace with the developments in the software security world. Now its cyber protection software is used by more than 750,000 businesses in more than 150 countries. The software is published in 26 languages.

"There are a lot of security gaps that exist and not everyone understands them," Abercrombie said. Acronis provides inbound threat detection to the cloud, to your servers, across applications and into your mobile data. The system provides notarization of backup services using blockchain technology, he said.

All data processing for the software is performed in the cloud, he said. Three cyberprotection centers across the country, staffed by cybersecurity professionals, deal with customer issues. Acronis's security software features"

  • Continuous protection against malware
  • Antivirus protection
  • Export prevention
  • URL filtering
  • Endpoint firewall management
  • Forensic backups
  • Smart protection plans with alerts.

For MSPs. Acronis provides you with a platform that allows you to easily monitor all your clients' activities. "We let you manage all of your solutions from one console," he said. In addition to professional services automation, Acronis provides MSPs with security measures that include

  • Backup
  • Disaster recovery
  • Security
  • Remote monitoring and management
  • Reach management.

Abercrombie called it One Protection Plan To Rule Them All. And now you can have your back-office services integrated into your network using the world's most popular security software.
