Bitwarden Offers Open Source Password Management for MSPs

By Laura Stotler

Bitwarden, a provider of open source password management, has announced a new offering geared toward managed service providers (MSPs).  The new release is designed to enable MSPs to deliver password management-as-a-service for their clients.

The new solution is based on the Bitwarden MSP Provider Portal, which offers a solid password management foundation designed for easy growth and operational efficiency. The portal provides a central place for MSPs to manage clients' Bitwarden services while offering granular visibility into client organizations. It also provides centralized management of user accounts as well as the ability to create new client organizations as MSPs expand their customer base.

MSPs may also use the portal to provide open source, zero-knowledge encryption password security to their customers. It offers the ability to create and manage client organizations from a central location, and MSPs may use the portal to delegate administrative duties to MSP technicians. They may also audit technician access to clients using provider event logs. Service providers may also provision clients' end users and set up collection access.

Bitwarden also offers a host of features for enterprises and individuals that MSPs may take advantage of. These include the ability to authenticate using an existing SSO Identity Provider as well as quickly onboard users via the Bitwarden Directory Connector.

Bitwarden also performs regular penetration testing along with security audits from third parties. The company is also SOC 2 and HIPAA certified to provide extra assurances.

The new Bitwarden portal will be prioritized for MSPs with at least 10 enterprise seats under management.
