Presidio Launches First EMC-Validated Solution Center Supporting Hybrid Cloud Management

By Laura Stotler

Presidio has opened the first EMC-validated Platinum Solution Center in Woburn, Mass., to showcase its Presidio Managed Cloud offering. The facility is a complete ecosystem built to EMC specifications and offering Presidio’s enterprise hybrid cloud management as a service as well as dozens of integrated EMC and VMware products.

The partnership is the latest in a spate of announcements promoting the federation of multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments. For its part, EMC solidified its hybrid cloud strategy just last week with the rollout of its EMC Hybrid Cloud Solution. The offering works with a variety of public cloud services including AWS and Microsoft Azure as well as EMC-powered cloud service providers like Presidio.

The new Solutions Center offers private and public cloud functionality and management from both Presidio and VMware as well as EMC Hybrid Cloud offerings. The EMC Hybrid Cloud is built with both Microsoft and OpenStack technology, stemming from EMC’s recent acquisition of cloud technology companies Cloudscaling, Maginatics and Spanning. The companies all use OpenStack to accelerate adoption and federation of hybrid cloud environments.

"In the last two years, we have built out our capabilities in design, implementation, and support of large-scale hybrid cloud solutions utilizing EMC and VMware technology," said Raphael Meyerowitz, assistant vice president of data center services at Presidio. "Our hybrid cloud solution center along with Presidio's Managed Cloud service catalog management allows us to demonstrate to clients the power of EMC and VMware technology to provision compute, storage, and custom services as well as manage, monitor, and cost quantify them through their full lifecycle."

The announcement follows OpenStack platform provider Siara’s news that it had completed a successful proof of concept with MSP KVH’s customers. The service provider is offering the platform to federate a wide variety of cloud deployments through a single cloud and WAN orchestration interface based on Siara’s cloudScape platform, which uses OpenStack.
