Managed Service Provider Week in Review

Managed Service Provider Week in Review

By Laura Stotler

It was a somewhat quiet week in the cloud and managed services space due to our Independence Day holiday here in the States. But there were still a few fireworks as several companies made noteworthy announcements.

E2E infotech will be acquired by CameronTec Interessenter AB, a provider of connectivity technology and trading infrastructure. The companies signed a definitive agreement in which CameronTec will snatch up the company, the Capital Markets technologies business of Aurionpro solutions. Aurionpro is a longtime partner to CameronTec. E2E provides a variety of services that complement CameronTec's offerings.

Telecom bigwig Avaya has rolled out new consulting services in an effort to help its customers develop more strategic plans for utilizing cloud collaboration services. The new offerings cover cloud solutions, session initiation protocol (SIP) technologies for VoIP, network security and self-service automation. All are designed to help remove the complexity of the cloud and minimize the risk of adopting advanced cloud collaboration solutions.

SMS Management & Technology Limited announced a $22 million deal in which it will acquire the Indicium and Access Networks group, collectively known as Indicium. The company is an MSP offering infrastructure management and business cloud services. The acquisition is designed to help SMS increase its annuity revenue and accelerate the companies' rollout of managed services in the cloud market.

And in heartening news, IT infrastructure platform provider SimpliVity announced it had undergone rapid growth during the first half of 2013. With a current customer base in the double digits and shipments approaching 100 systems, the company expects its total number of customers to exceed 100 by the end of the year. SimpliVity provides the OmniCube platform and OmniStack technology, providing a Data Virtualization Engine (DVE) that is fueling the company's rapid market expansion.
