Intermedia Plays Host to Over 600,000 Exchange Mailboxes

Intermedia Plays Host to Over 600,000 Exchange Mailboxes

Intermedia has just hit what it considers a major milestone – installing its 600,000th Exchange seat. And it wasn’t just any customer that helped Intermedia meet this mark. It was Rockstar, Inc., which makes the popular Rockstar energy drink.

Intermedia claims that it is the only Microsoft third party to reach this number of seats. It was only last September that the company reached 500,000 Exchange seats under management.

The drink maker is now helping promote Intermedia with the “Replace your Server with a Fridge Full of Rockstar” promotion. The winner gets a Rockstar fridge and a year’s supply of Rockstar beverages.

Intermedia president Michael Gold sounded like he’d had more than his share of the energy drink, enthusing, “I felt a rush just seeing Rockstar's name among our 50,000 cloud customers. When they provisioned Exchange seat number 600,000, I wanted to grab my skis and attempt to recreate one of their high-action videos.”

Intermedia has achieved a number of other firsts, arguing that it was the first company to support hosted Exchange globally, which it accomplished in 2000.

Besides hosted Exchange, Intermedia also supports SharePoint and Lync. On the unified communications front, the company offers a hosted PBX service.

Intermedia has been busy in recent weeks, and in June announced a new e-mail archiving tool. It is also now previewing SecuriSync, a file collaboration service.

Earlier this year Intermedia improved its Partner Program with the new Gold, Silver and Registered levels, and the launch of a Partner Sales Portal.

The company’s Partner Program supports more than 12,000 channel partners who can white label the Intermedia services.

Finally, this past January Intermedia bought Telenetix for $55 million. Telenetix focuses primary on VoIP.
