Managed Unified Communications Provider Alteva Participates in ITEXPO Miami 2013

By Laura Stotler

Alteva, a provider of enterprise hosted VoIP, is participating in ITEXPO Miami 2013 in Miami this week. The company, which is one of the top 10 largest providers of unified communications, is exhibiting and also took part in a panel discussion at the event.

Guy Yasika, regional sales manager and chair of the unified communications community for CompTIA, participated in the "Accelerating Managed Unified Communications Adoption" panel discussion. The event focused on the benefits and opportunities unified communications hold for enterprises as well as managed service providers (MSPs), who can offer them as valuable managed offerings.

MSPs offer an ideal solution for businesses that wish to transition to UC but don't want to deal with the expense and hassle of migrating their equipment and software. An experienced MSP can help a company develop their UC plan from choosing the best equipment to deploying it in the most efficient manner possible, whether on premise, in the cloud or through a hybrid combination of both.

The panel discussion was led by Daniel O'Connell, a Gartner analyst, and addressed a recent 2012 report from IDC. The report shows that around 40 percent of enterprises have adopted UC and collaboration systems, with an additional 35 percent planning to deploy technologies within two years.

The technical challenge of planning, configuring, deploying and maintaining a UC solution is one of the main barriers for enterprises interested in adopting a UC plan. Particularly for small to medium-sized enterprises, this complexity has created a roadblock in the evolution from legacy voice systems to next-generation UC solutions.

Alteva, based in Philadelphia, offers a cloud-based UC solution that tackles the technical and cost issues of adopting next-generation communications systems. Offerings include a VoIP PBX system, hosted Microsoft communication services, fixed mobile convergence and a variety of advanced voice applications for the desktop. Solutions require minimal installation and configuration, and reduce overall communications costs while letting organizations improve their productivity.

ITEXPO Miami began Tuesday and will be held through tomorrow at the Miami Convention Center. The event, hosted by MSPToday, convenes more than 7,000 attendees from all sectors of the IP communications industry.
