Inlayer Accelerates Microsoft Teams Migration and Device Management for MSPs

By Erik Linask

Microsoft Teams has rapidly become a central hub for modern business communication and collaboration, adopted by organizations of all sizes.  As businesses increasingly rely on Teams, the need to efficiently deploy, configure, and manage the associated hardware – from desk phones and headsets to conference room systems – is critical for availability of communications and collaboration services.

Managing devices in a Teams environment, especially during large-scale rollouts or migrations from legacy phone systems, can be complex and labor-intensive.  Many businesses, though, don’t have the resources or the expertise to handle these tasks – or they simply don’t want to have to deal with it in-house and would rather have their IT teams focus on other business needs, creating an opportunity for MSPs.

As such, MSPs are often tasked with ensuring seamless transitions and reliable ongoing device performance for their clients.

This is where Inlayer comes in.  The owner of the Phonism device management platform has launched its new integration with Microsoft Teams, expanding the company’s multi-UCaaS support and providing new capabilities for provisioning, managing, and securing devices within the Teams ecosystem remotely and at scale.  The Phonism platform already powers device management for many UCaaS platforms, including Zoom, Webex, Alianza, and BroadWorks,

Inlayer’s new integration MSPs with the tools to overcome the traditional challenges of Teams device management, enabling them to offer valuable, scalable services around Teams adoption, migration, and ongoing support, thereby expanding their service portfolios and increasing revenue opportunities.

"Microsoft Teams is central to modern business communication, but managing devices at scale has been a major challenge," said Greg DiFraia, CEO of Inlayer. "Our partnership with Microsoft solves this challenge offering zero-touch provisioning, rapid migrations, and enhanced security all while cutting costs and complexity."

Key Capabilities Delivering Efficiency and Control:

The Inlayer integration for Microsoft Teams delivers a suite of powerful capabilities designed to streamline device management:

  • Zero-touch provisioning (ZTP): Enables instant device onboarding without any manual setup required, drastically accelerating deployments.
  • Bulk changes with templates: Allows administrators to apply updates, settings, and configurations to large numbers of devices simultaneously using customizable templates.
  • Remote management & real-time tracking: Provides complete control over devices anytime, anywhere, with full visibility into device status and activity for proactive management and troubleshooting.
  • User experience customization: Simplifies managing and syncing contacts across devices and allows for easy customization of speed dials and other settings to enhance user productivity.
  • Logical grouping of devices: Enables administrators to organize devices intuitively by location, team, or customer for easier management.
  • Enhanced security: Includes features like compliance lock and configuration enforcement policies to ensure devices meet security standards.

William Rubio, CRO at Calltower calls the integration a game-changer.

"The platform offers advanced automation and zero-touch provisioning, making migration from legacy systems simpler while reducing complexities and costs,” Rubio said.  “This innovation makes moving to Teams faster and smoother, delivering a better overall experience for our customers."

The seamless provisioning process is a core strength. When a user signs into a Teams-compatible device managed by Phonism, the platform automatically merges configuration templates, applies base profiles, and deploys the correct Teams settings in real time. This ensures users receive a compliant, fully configured experience instantly, minimizing the need for manual intervention and reducing potential errors.

Daniel Noworatzky, CTO at Teledynamics, which offers a wide range of Teams-compatible solutions for meeting rooms, offices, and remote workers, commented that the integration allows channel partners to help their business customers maximize their Teams investments.

"Inlayer's Teams integration has completely transformed how we enable our partners to handle device provisioning and lifecycle management,” Noworatzky said.  “The zero-touch onboarding and remote capabilities have eliminated manual effort and enabled our partners to deliver faster, more secure deployments to their customers.”

According to Inlayer, its new integration can cut onboarding time and costs by up to 100x, automate complex migrations, and reduce labor by up to 95%.  The Microsoft Teams integration is available now through its channel partners.
