Trellix Upgrades Drive Encryption to Safeguard Against Insider Threats

By Stefania Viscusi

Trellix, a provider of AI-powered cybersecurity solutions, announced significant upgrades to its Drive Encryption offering. Designed for both on-premises and SaaS environments, these enhancements provide organizations with the flexibility to secure sensitive data and devices against unauthorized access.

The updated Trellix Drive Encryption now offers advanced self-protection capabilities to defend against privilege escalations — a critical tactic often exploited in insider attacks. This ensures robust security for employee devices, helping organizations prevent data breaches while offering detailed reports on the encryption status of devices, both within and beyond their networks. Policies can now be managed seamlessly through a unified console, simplifying administration.

For organizations considering transitioning from on-premises to SaaS management, Trellix has streamlined the migration process, allowing them to retain their encryption keys without disruption. SaaS management customers also benefit from a 25% reduction in user assignment and management effort, making the solution more efficient and user-friendly.

Trellix Drive Encryption complements the company’s broader portfolio of data protection tools, including Trellix Native Drive Encryption and Trellix File & Removable Media Protection. Together, these solutions provide a comprehensive approach to safeguarding sensitive information in today’s increasingly complex threat landscape.

"The majority of lost and stolen assets reported this past year resulted in a data disclosure, making it essential for organizations to have strong drive encryption implementation,” said Gareth Maclachlan, Chief Product Officer, Trellix. “Trellix continuously innovates our encryption offerings to provide industry-leading protection against data leaks and improve our customers’ security postures.”
