Sherweb Invests in Cybersecurity Future through $1.5M Partnership

By Greg Tavarez

Sherweb, a seasoned IT solutions provider, has been empowering businesses since 1998. With a dynamic team of 1,400+ tech wizards, they've forged strong partnerships with resellers, offering them a treasure trove of software solutions from top brands and value-added services. From tech support to cybersecurity, Sherweb helps resellers lighten their load and expand their cloud horizons.

Speaking of cybersecurity, Sherweb's MSP marketplace is a gold mine of security solutions, and it's only getting richer. With new solutions on the horizon, channel partners will have even greater flexibility to shield their SMB clients from cyber threats.

Sherweb isn't just a provider; they're a problem-solver. Their own MSP-centric solution, Office Protect, recently unveiled a free security assessment tool. This tool helps MSPs ensure their clients' Microsoft 365 environments are fortified against cyberattacks.

"As a leading cloud distributor, we have a duty to help elevate industry standards and make it easy for channel partners to implement security solutions for their clients,” said Matthew Cassar, co-CEO and co-founder of Sherweb.

Aligned with its increased focus in the cybersecurity sector and the services it provides to MSPs, Sherweb also recently announced a partnership with the University of Sherbrooke to help fund the new Intact Cybersecurity Expertise Centre, committing $1.5 million to advance cybersecurity research.

With Sherweb's backing, the Intact Cybersecurity Expertise Centre is set to establish two research chairs. These chairs will serve as catalysts for groundbreaking, interdisciplinary research aimed at addressing critical societal challenges.

By fostering collaboration between academia, industry and organizations, the Centre will empower these entities to combat the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats.

“One of our strengths was to bring together the scientific and technological know-how of 12 specialists from five faculties, to work together to advance knowledge and train the next generation,” said Professor Marc Frappier, Scientific Director of the Centre and holder of the research chair in post-quantum cybersecurity. “Our goal is to develop a robust shield against cyber threats to the computerized systems of public and private organizations through partnership research, the intersection of disciplines and continuing education. Sherweb’s support will be crucial to the Centre’s success.”

The team at Sherweb says they they are excited to see how this research, fueled by their support, will ripple through the industry. From small businesses to individual users, they believe everyone stands to gain.

"Cybersecurity is a major focus for Sherweb which is why we’ve developed our own solutions while also expanding the security offerings for MSPs,” said Peter Cassar, co-CEO and co-founder of Sherweb. “We believe that our industry expertise alongside the research capabilities at the University of Sherbrooke is a powerful combination to help drive innovation in this sector.”
