Essential Backup and Recovery Strategies at MSP Expo 2025

By Greg Tavarez

Happy Monday, readers. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend.

As we look forward to Halloween this Thursday, let’s start the week by discussing backup and recovery.

Backup and recovery is a critical aspect of data management; it helps to guarantee the safety and accessibility of your valuable information. It involves creating copies of data and storing them securely in a separate location. This safeguards data against potential threats like hardware failures, cyberattacks, natural disasters or accidental deletion.

A strong backup strategy typically includes multiple layers of protection. This might involve regular backups of your entire system or specific files, as well as incremental backups that capture only the changes made since the last full backup. Additionally, data can be backed up to various storage media, such as external hard drives, cloud storage, or tape drives, depending on your specific needs and budget.

In the event of a data loss incident, a well-designed recovery plan comes into play. This plan outlines the steps to restore data from the backups and minimize downtime and potential financial loss. Recovery procedures may involve restoring data to its original location or to a new system, depending on the severity of the incident.

By investing in a reliable backup and recovery solution and regularly testing your recovery procedures, you can significantly reduce the risk of data loss and its associated consequences.

At MSP Expo 2025, taking place February 11-13, 2025, at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, you can learn more about backup and recovery during a session titled “Backup and Recovery: Building Business Continuity for Your Clients.”

The session takes place from 4:00-4:45 PM on February 11, 2025.

During the session, attendees will explore the latest trends in backup and recovery. This includes different models available today, how to create a secure and reliable backup strategy for your clients and how to make sure they have effective BCDR tools in place to ensure the impact of any event is minimized.

MSP Expo also offers MSPs a chance to learn and understand how to take their MSP to the next level. It offers a three-day experience combining conference education focused on growth strategies, networking opportunities, an exhibit hall full of the latest technologies and solutions to help MSPs build their businesses.
