The Future of Tech: AI Takes Center Stage, Security Remains Crucial

By Greg Tavarez

Happy Friday, readers. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Now, to the news.

The technology landscape, as we all are aware of, continues to transform as tech companies innovate. Technology partners play a key role in shaping the future because they deliver solutions that empower organizations to thrive in the digital era.

TD SYNNEX, a global distributor and aggregator of technology solutions, released its third annual Direction of Technology Report, which gives a more detailed look into the direction the technology market is heading toward. The report, based on insights from technology resellers, systems integrators, service providers and MSPs worldwide, reveals a sector poised for big change and opportunity.

One of the findings is the increasing prominence of AI and GenAI technologies. Nearly half of the surveyed partners plan to offer AI-driven solutions within the next two years. As AI continues to reshape industries, technology partners are at the forefront and plan to use its power to deliver innovative solutions and drive business growth.

Sure, innovation takes center stage; rightfully so. But that doesn’t mean that security can't be a top priority for technology partners. The report stressed the importance of balancing technological advancement with strong security measures. Cybersecurity continues to be the top offering for partners, which only reflects the growing need to protect sensitive data and mitigate risks in an increasingly interconnected world.

“This year, we’re seeing much more detail on how partners are embracing the power of AI and cloud technologies while making technology more adaptable to the needs of their customers,” said Patrick Zammit, CEO of TD SYNNEX. “At the same time, they are balancing the need for robust security and regulatory compliance across all industries.”

The report also identified three other trends that are shaping the technology market in 2024:

  • Skill specialization and flexible solutions: Technology leaders recognize the importance of specialized skills and certifications, particularly in cybersecurity, data privacy and AI. They are also focusing on offering flexible spending solutions to cater to the evolving needs of their customers.

  • Collaboration and partnership: The report talks about the role of collaboration and partnership in the technology ecosystem. With nearly three-quarters of IT spending driven by partners, collaboration will be crucial to navigating increasing competition and technological advancements.

  • Regulatory compliance and ESG: Regulatory compliance and environmental, social, and governance standards are challenges for technology partners. They seek to offer technology solutions that help customers meet these requirements and contribute to a more sustainable future.

“By focusing on these key trends, companies will not only be ready to adapt, but to thrive,” said Jill Kermes, Corporate Vice President, Global Corporate Communications and Citizenship.

By focusing on these key trends, technology partners are in a strong position for success in the years to come. Just remember, adaptability, innovation and a strong focus on customer needs will be essential for thriving in this dynamic environment.
