Claire Fefer Brings Expertise to MSP Expo Gold Sponsor Grain Management

By Greg Tavarez

Recently on MSP Today, I penned an article that covered Grain Management’s addition of Steven R. Smith as Managing Director on the Investment Team. At the start of the article, I mention Grain’s M.O., and there’s one part that sticks out to me:

“Our global team of seasoned and diverse professionals share a collective passion for the power of connectivity to strengthen communities, and unlock human potential for all.”

Of course, the moves made in-house are what drive this Gold sponsor of MSP Expo, taking place February 11-13, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to deliver its mission.

Well, Grain recently made another move; namely, with the appointment of Claire Fefer as Senior Advisor.

Fefer has decades of experience in the private equity asset class. With that experience, she brings unparalleled expertise in investment strategy and a deep understanding of global capital allocation, having overseen billions in commitments across multiple asset classes.

"We are thrilled to welcome Claire as Senior Advisor," said David Grain, CEO of Grain. "Her experience will provide invaluable insights as we continue to expand our investments in global telecommunications and broadband infrastructure."

While on the topic of her experience, Fefer previously served as Senior Investment Manager of Private Investments at DUMAC Inc., the investment office controlled by Duke University. There, she managed more than $25 billion in endowment and related assets. She also led private investments in emerging and established general partners across venture capital, leveraged buyout, credit, natural resources and real estate for 15 years, and prior to that focused on public securities.

Fefer currently advises multi-billion dollar family offices on their investment programs and serves on the Editorial Committee for the Academy of Institutional Investors.

Her strategic vision and deep industry connections will only strengthen Grain's investment approach as it looks to continue driving innovation and growth in the telecommunications sector.

"I'm excited to formalize my role with Grain and continue contributing to their forward-thinking approach," said Fefer. "I've seen firsthand the Firm's dedication to long-term value creation, and I look forward to playing a part in their continued success."

Fefer’s appointment is a testament to Grain's commitment to bringing on talent from various backgrounds as it continues to position itself at the forefront of telecommunications investment.

Grain Management is a Gold sponsor of MSP Expo, taking place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from February 11-13, 2025. Part of the #TECHSUPERSHOW experience, MSP Expo is the premier event for MSPs, offering a three-day experience combining conference education, networking opportunities, an exhibit hall full of the latest technologies and solutions to help MSPs build their business, and more. Grain will be in Meeting Room 206.
