Vantage Expands Visibility: Now Supports Custom Providers

Businesses today rely on a vast array of software tools in order to operate efficiently. Sure, there are already the likes of AWS, Azure and GCP. However, organizations often use dozens of other vendors for specialized applications.

While these tools offer valuable functionalities, their billing practices are a headache for finance teams.

See, many software vendors provide limited, non-standardized, or even non-existent billing APIs and usage reports. This means that finance teams must often resort to manual tracking methods or rely on third-party tools that may not be fully equipped for the task. These challenges can lead to several issues such as inaccurate cost allocation, lack of visibility, increased administrative burden and compliance risks.

Vantage’s support for Custom Providers changes that.

Vantage is a cloud cost management platform that helps businesses save money on their cloud spending. It provides detailed information about how engineering teams are using cloud resources across different providers. This information helps organizations make better decisions about their cloud usage and reduce costs.

As for Custom Providers, it is designed to give customers more comprehensive visibility into costs and utilization across their entire cloud and SaaS stack. With Custom Providers, customers can integrate any third-party cloud billing and resource data into the Vantage platform, even from custom systems and providers that do not expose billing APIs. This allows customers to achieve a standardized, single source of truth to manage cloud costs.

Custom Providers also utilizes the FinOps Cost and Usage Specification format. Through this format, customers import costs by uploading a CSV file, either via the Vantage platform or via the Vantage API. This includes one-time costs, such as licenses, for amortization and allocation purposes, or usage reports, to track ongoing spend.

“Support for Custom Providers is making it possible for businesses to bring any cloud provider under management,” said Ben Schaechter, co-founder and CEO of Vantage. “By using Vantage as a single source of truth, customers can achieve a much more accurate and in-depth view into cloud costs and utilization. It’s our hope that as more vendors embrace the FOCUS schema, businesses will be able to more easily advance their FinOps practice and achieve greater control over their full cloud stack.”

Custom Providers, available now, is a great tool for Vantage customers to utilize as they hope to achieve standardization and centralized visibility across all cloud providers and SaaS vendors.
