Align's Guardian Now Prevents Ransomware Encryption and Data Theft

By Greg Tavarez

Let’s talk about Align.

Align is a global company with more than 35 years of experience providing technology infrastructure solutions and managed IT services. They focus on helping businesses achieve measurable IT transformation through secure, reliable and cost-effective solutions. Their services include strategy, design and implementation, all the way to ongoing management.

Align prides itself on its deep client relationships and industry expertise. They work with clients across various sectors to design and implement customized solutions that meet their specific needs. Their focus on client satisfaction has earned them a loyal following and a reputation for exceeding expectations.

One of Align's strengths is its cloud expertise. They have been recognized for its secure and compliant cloud-based solutions, particularly for clients in the financial services industry.

Adding to its arsenal of solutions to fight cyber threats, Align recently announced the addition of a new exfiltration prevention feature to its Align Guardian Managed Detection and Response offering, powered by Adlumin.

Designed to quickly detect and stop attackers from exfiltrating data, the new ransomware and exfiltration prevention feature complements Guardian's existing ransomware prevention capabilities, which already stop ransomware encryption fast enough to save 99% of files. This comprehensive approach now protects organizations from data encryption and theft, which neutralizes the two primary tactics used by ransomware gangs.

How does it work, though?

Well, it works by strategically placing decoy files to attract malicious actors. It then monitors these files for signs of encryption or data exfiltration. This terminates any suspicious processes at the earliest stages. This proactive approach reduces the risk of successful ransomware attacks and data breaches.

“The addition of exfiltration prevention to our Guardian solution demonstrates our commitment to innovation and supporting our clients to stay ahead of these threats,” said Vinod Paul, President of Align Managed Services. “For our clients in the alternative investment industry and beyond, this enhanced protection is crucial in maintaining the security of sensitive data.”

Align's Managed Services clients will automatically benefit from this new feature at no additional cost.
