CyberArk Introduces Enhanced Passkeys Authentication

By Stefania Viscusi

Identity security company CyberArk has announced a significant step in enhancing the passwordless authentication experience by introducing new passkeys support. CyberArk Identity customers will now have passkeys that enable users to more seamlessly access applications and websites, thanks to robust authentication methods such as biometrics.

Included as part of the CyberArk Identity Security Platform, a suite of SaaS solutions, help to streamline enterprise identity and access management while maintaining a high level of security.

Since one of the most common entry points for cyber breaches is stolen and misused credentials, Passkeys work by extending the effectiveness of a passwordless strategy and adding another layer of security. With phishing-resistant, FIDO2-compliant credentials that serve as a formidable replacement for traditional passwords, they can effectively reduce the attack surface and mitigate the risk of credential theft.

The passkey authentication method aligns with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Authentic Assurance Level 3 (AAL3). It also is compatible with YubiKey One Time Passcode (OTP)- a popular physical authentication device.

“Passwords are the weakest link in the security chain, and they are often the root cause of data breaches and cyberattacks. By introducing passkeys for passwordless authentication, we are further enabling our customers to eliminate passwords from their authentication workflows,” said Gil Rapaport, General Manager, Access, CyberArk.

Passkeys work across user devices including those within physical proximity, so authentication is simpler and faster. For businesses, the need to overcome user authentication, authorization, and identity management challenges is critical. Now they can enable Zero Trust and least privilege and gain complete visibility.

“CyberArk is committed to delivering the most comprehensive and innovative identity security solutions on the market. By extending passwordless authentication options, not only are we helping to eliminate password-based risk for our customers, but we are also improving productivity and the overall user experience.”
