Rackspace's New Offering Redefines Multi and Hybrid Cloud Management

Rackspace's New Offering Redefines Multi and Hybrid Cloud Management

By Greg Tavarez

Enterprises today often fight with mounting operational intricacies when it comes to effectively overseeing multi and hybrid cloud environments. As they continue to refine their hybrid and multicloud strategies, they encounter a fresh set of challenges marked by escalating operational complexities.

These challenges usually come in the form of diverse architectural patterns spanning across multiple cloud platforms, the need for seamless platform interoperability, the management of cloud-specific tools, APIs, adherence to open and closed standards, enhanced security measures, and the ongoing maintenance of cloud services. (To name a few.)

It is imperative for an effective cloud partner to explore methods and processes that streamline IT service management, strengthen DevOps, enhance agile methodologies and optimize cost and vendor management across the multitude of available cloud platforms.

With that in mind, Rackspace has announced the launch of Rackspace Managed Cloud (RMC), a comprehensive service designed to let customers outsource the management and operations of their cloud environments. This service is powered by the Rackspace Cloud Management Platform, which facilitates the management of the complete lifecycle of various cloud components such as compute, storage, data and applications.

Key features of RMC involve a fully outsourced service model where enterprises can entrust Rackspace with end-to-end management of their cloud environments, supporting multicloud and hybrid deployments to accommodate diverse infrastructure needs. RMC also incorporates ITIL-based operations, employing industry-standard processes supported by powerful tools to ensure efficient and compliant cloud operations and offer DevOps expertise to drive project-based transformational work, enabling enterprises to innovate and adapt rapidly.

What makes RMC stand out is that it offers robust support for a diverse spectrum of cloud environments, ensuring that enterprises can effectively manage their infrastructure regardless of where it resides. This support includes major cloud providers like AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, enabling seamless integration and management of workloads within these platforms.

Additionally, RMC extends its coverage to Rackspace's own private cloud solutions. This provides a holistic approach to managing public and private cloud resources.

“RMC unites the strengths of reliable, ongoing cloud operations with transformative engineering, resulting in enhanced performance, reliable security, and an improved end-customer experience, empowering businesses to respond to dynamic requirements,” said Mike Lindbert, Senior Director, Public Cloud Product, Rackspace.

With RMC, Rackspace Managed Services for Enterprise customers benefit in several ways, including cost optimization and predictability to reduce unnecessary expenses, improved performance and reliability leading to enhanced customer experiences, enhanced security and compliance to reduce enterprise risk, reactive scaling to better meet business demands and a commitment to continuous improvement and transformation.

“Rackspace Managed Services for Enterprise offers a comprehensive solution and cloud service for the cloud economy that reduces operational costs and significantly enhances application performance,” said D K Sinha, President, Public Cloud Business Unit, Rackspace.
