Leostream Makes Remote Desktop Access Platform More Versatile with New Release

By Greg Tavarez

Think back to when remote desktop access platforms were not a thing. Businesses relied on methods like VPNs, physical file transfer, in-person work, phone/email communication and on-site IT support for remote access and communication.

Doesn’t sound efficient, right? Truth be told, those traditional methods often resulted in less efficient work arrangements and limited flexibility.

Enter remote desktop access platforms, or software solutions that enable users to access and control a remote computer or server from a different location, typically over the internet. They often offer features like screen sharing, file transfer and remote control capabilities, making them invaluable tools for businesses, IT professionals and individuals seeking remote access to computers and resources, improving efficiency, convenience and connectivity in a digital world.

Leostream, a remote desktop access platform provider, offers robust desktop connection management and remote access features, allowing today’s enterprises to choose components to satisfy their complex security, cost and flexibility needs while working with them as they evolve into tomorrow.

With a recent update, Leostream announced the latest version of the Leostream Remote Desktop Access Platform, giving enterprises more features to set up, configure, provision and manage virtual desktops.

Leostream 2023.2 introduces numerous enhancements for VM provisioning in cloud and on-premises virtualization setups. This version gives administrators the option to schedule multiple actions on newly provisioned VMs, such as taking snapshots, domain integration or VM power-down. This feature facilitates snapshot delay and initialization script execution, ensuring snapshots accurately capture the final state of the VM. It also supports shutting down newly provisioned cloud-based VMs to prevent unnecessary compute costs.

For AWS users, Leostream now offers the option to provision VMs using launch templates, providing greater customization for meeting specific organizational needs. VergeIO users gain enhanced VM customization through payload specification when provisioning from recipes.

Leostream 2023.2 also enables alert notifications via Webhooks, including integration with platforms like Slack, streamlining administration by offering real-time event notifications, such as when a user is not assigned their primary desktop.

“These enhancements largely stem directly from user requests and feedback, so our community should get instant value and utility from these new features,” said Leostream CEO Karen Gondoly. “With enterprises around the world using Leostream to securely and reliably access their work, it’s our responsibility to respond to their needs.”

Here are additional features:

  • Leostream web client now features a new layout and dark mode. Administrators can also opt for a dark mode view of the Connection Broker web interface.

  • Leostream's Connection Broker now operates on Security Enhanced Linux (SELinux), enhancing security, and offers comprehensive UTF-8 support for global character sets.

Leostream resellers can access an overview of 2023.2 and learn about new features directly from Leostream experts at the partner portal.
