NTT Data Announces Chainalytics Acquisition

By Luke Bellos

Over the last few months, the global economy has been feeling the effects of the current supply chain issues brought on by pandemic conditions and labor shortages. As a result, supply chain leaders are working diligently to devise more creative strategies toward logistical issues with the support of detailed analytics, strategic planning, and continuous operational oversight.

Recently, global IT service provider NTT DATA announced a new agreement to acquire supply chain consulting firm, Chainalytics, in order to provide customers with more technical expertise and data-driven insights to transform supply chain operations.

“By combining our capabilities, we will advance our purpose of being the leading partner for supporting data-driven supply chain transformation,” said Mike Kilgore, CEO of Chainalytics. “We’re excited to join the NTT DATA family where we share strongly aligned cultures and passion for innovation, which are the sources of our differentiation and value to our clients, while accessing a larger platform for growth.”

NTT’s faith in Chainalytics seems to be driven by a strong reputation within the world of consulting, as the company was recently named by Forbes as one of America’s top management consulting firms. The company specializes in strategic and tactical supply chain optimization, offering business to strengthen their procedures while keeping costs and resources allocation in focus.

“Nearly every industry has been impacted by supply chain disruption, magnifying the need to accelerate improvement opportunities in supply chain planning and execution,” said Dan Albright, Divisional President & Global Head of Consulting, NTT DATA Services. “Supply chain is a critical source of competitive advantage for our clients across industries. Together with Chainalytics, we will support clients’ digital transformations, improve their resilience and help advance their sustainability and net zero initiatives.”

As part of this acquisition, Chainalytics 200+ employees will join the NTT DATA consulting division. This deal is still subject to closing conditions, and financial details regarding the acquisition have yet to be disclosed.
