Latest Barracuda Acquisition Signals New Security Offerings

By Luke Bellos

Barracuda MSP has officially announced the acquisition of Skout Cybersecurity, an SOC service provider, which will allow MSP customers to take advantage of heightened security options for secure business operations.

Over the last two years, businesses both large and small have experienced an unprecedented level of cybercrime, mainly due to business operations being shifted to remote setups as a result of the pandemic. This new wave of digital crime has many customers feeling uneasy about falling victim to an attack, prompting many service providers to enhance operations with more advanced security features.

“MSPs must be able?to protect their customers’ users, their devices, and the data they are accessing with these devices against increasingly sophisticated threats. To achieve this?level of protection for their customers, and themselves,?MSPs?are?transforming?their businesses into?security-centric?operations,” said?Brian Babineau, Senior VP and General Manager,Barracuda MSP.?

Though it seems obvious that customers would naturally have concerns about the rise in online criminal activity, a recent survey conducted by Kaseya shows that cybersecurity is now among the leading concerns, next to cloud migration and automation.

“The results of the 2021 survey demonstrate that security continues to be a top priority for IT professionals and will remain a major challenge as the surge in cyber attacks continues. Kaseya anticipated this trend and has structured its IT Complete suite of solutions to provide comprehensive protection for SMBs to stop threats like credential compromise and phishing,” said Mike Puglia, Chief Strategy Officer at Kaseya.

The acquisition of Skout is expected to close by the end of this month, allowing Barracuda customers to work with added peace of mind thanks to Skout’s added security protections.
