PDI Acquires Two Companies to Create New Managed Security Services Line

By Laura Stotler

Enterprise software company PDI has entered the MSP space with the acquisition of Cybera Inc. and ControlScan Managed Security Services for an undisclosed amount. The companies both provide managed security solutions designed to protect customers against cybersecurity threats.

The acquisitions will help build up PDI's cloud services strategy by offering customers a fully managed, cloud-based network security solution. PDI specializes in solutions for the convenience retail and petroleum wholesale markets.

The expansion positions PDI in the cloud security as well as software-defined wide-area networking (SD-WAN) spaces. The company has created a new line of business known as PDI Security Solutions, catering to convenience retailers, quick-service restaurants and additional multi-site operators.

Among those industries, the Internet of Things (IoT) has created a giant amount of data from edge devices like POS systems, payments, self-service kiosks, tank gauges and digital displays. All those devices capture data but also open up networks to potential cyber attacks.

The new companies bring proven security solutions and managed security services designed to help businesses secure their enterprise networks as well as the consumer experience. Both have been focused on simplifying the management, monitoring and protection of distributed enterprises against cyber security threats.

“Security is becoming increasingly important in our industry as many businesses embrace their own digital transformation and deploy more in-store applications and edge devices,” said Jimmy Frangis, CEO at PDI. “We are excited to add these industry-leading solutions from Cybera and ControlScan MSS to our portfolio. We look forward to welcoming their teams, and together we can serve our customers’ needs now and in the future.”

To learn more about how MSPs are playing an increasingly pivotal role in securing the enterprise, consumer experience, IoT and more, TMC is hosting its MSP Expo from June 22-25 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The event will offer opportunities for MSPs and technology specialists to collaborate and learn about growing and securing their networks and driving revenues.
