ION Networks Enables MSPs to Securely Manage Customer Systems with New Privileged Remote Access Solution

By Erik Linask

Security has never been more important than it is today.  Every day, companies are faced with the threat of their networks and systems being breached, exposing both customer and internal corporate data.  At the same time, businesses are also relying more heavily on external resources – managed service providers – to manage their networks and systems, creating an additional layer of security complexity that businesses have to navigate.  Particularly today, as global conditions have increased the need to remote access to corporate assets, the ability to manage data and network systems remotely has become an imperative.

For MSPs, one of the challenges is the complexity of enterprise IT infrastructure often requires multiple tools for accessing and managing customer systems.  This creates inefficiency and makes it harder to quickly address customer needs.  They need to deliver a full set of IT services, requiring access to multiple networks and systems, but they also need to ensure their customer systems and data remain secure.

ION Networks has a solution that will allow MSPs access and manage enterprise systems more efficiently, deliver higher levels of service, increase their own revenue opportunities and, at the same time, reduce security risks.  Its Netgard Privileged Gateway is a secure remote access tool that allows MSPs secure access to all their enterprise customer data systems through a single portal.

With a federated connection at the heart of the solutions, Netgard Privileged Gateway ensures only the right individuals have access to customer systems, while increased the MSPs’ ability to access and manage enterprise systems through a single tool – rather than having to use multiple tools and access systems for different systems.

The tool creates a trusted relationship between MSPs and their customers, defining not only who has access to systems, but what they can access, which endpoints are exposed, as well as the security requirements and techniques used – encryption, key strength, hashing, etc., along with access control, monitoring, and reporting.

“A broad range of privileged users need access to a complex network of distributed IT assets”, said Tom O’Brien, Netgard Product Manager.   “This includes Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and vendors, as well as internal users, but traditional network security falls short in meeting the demands of Privileged Session Management.  By adopting a principle of least privilege, Netgard Privileged Gateway ensures only verified users have access, and then only to the parts of the network that are pertinent to their roles.”

By leveraging a single, secure tool to control access, MSP are able to save time and resources by reducing the complexity of managing each customer’s assets, and are able to manage more customers without increasing workload.  They are able to comply with individual customer security requirements, as well as industry regulations, while ensuring secure access to all data and communications systems.  It’s a win-win for both sides.  MSPs are able to build trust and loyalty by delivering better service, and their customers have the peace of mind knowing their systems will function as needed without exposing them to internal or external threats.

Growth opportunities for MSPs is the singular focus of MSP Expo, part of the TechSuperShow.  Coming to the brand new Miami Beach Convention Center, June 22-25, 2021 along with ITEXPO and the rest of the TechSuperShow events, MSP Expo 2021 will focus not only on security and other solutions, but will feature marketing, customer acquisition, benchmarking and metrics, compliance, and other key areas of business growth for MSPs.
