Silver Peak, KDDI Partner to Provide Managed SD-WAN

By Maurice Nagle

The search for the right SD-WAN solution starts with evaluating needs and resources. And, eventually management comes into question. Is this a DIY project? Do we partner with a vendor? Is a managed SD-WAN deployment the way to go? The beauty of SD-WAN is there are enough flavors out there to fit your fancy.

Silver Peak and KDDI announced a new partnership allowing KDDI the ability to offer Managed SD-WAN services supported by the Unity EdgeConnect SD-WAN. European organizations can take advantage tiered offerings to address network needs.

KDDI noted four primary reasons for selecting Silver Peak as its preferred SD-WAN partner: ease of adaptability as an overlay; low total cost of ownership; secure local internet breakout granting branches direct access to cloud applications; and the tiered service delivery with integrated WAN optimization.

“IDC predicts that 60 percent of enterprises will implement SD-WAN at some sites by the end of 2019, and a major criterion for selecting a service provider is the ability to offer one-stop tiered managed SD-WAN. This will allow enterprises to quickly realize the benefits of optimized application and cloud delivery, as well as significant WAN transport cost savings,” said Courtney Munroe, group vice president of worldwide telecommunications research at IDC.

SD-WAN is a hot topic for good reason, while it won’t always be the belle of the ball, it will remain a key enabler of the cloud era. From supporting our SaaS-tastic business world to promising improved connectivity and Quality of Service (QoS), SD-WAN is no passing fad.

Is it time to look into what SD-WAN can do for your business?
