Rackspace Named Leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant

Rackspace Named Leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant

By Michael Guta

Rackspace provides the tools for global cloud service providers so they can effectively manage the complexities and costs of their deployments with solutions that guarantee 100 percent uptime. With its Fanatical Support and easy to use tools, the company provides more than half of the FORTUNE 100— including AWS, Google, Microsoft, OpenStack, VMware and many others— with the technology and specialized expertise they need. This long list of global enterprise customers, as well as the service it provides, has led Gartner to place Rackspace in its Leader quadrant in the 2017 Magic Quadrant for Public Cloud Infrastructure Managed Service Providers (MSPs), Worldwide.

Gartner arrived at this decision after its IT industry experts evaluated MSPs based on the comprehensive delivery of their products and services and their ability to execute on this vision for their customers. Categorized as Niche Players, Challengers, Visionaries and Leaders, each quadrant highlights companies that are excelling in the industry. This makes the third time in as many years that Rackspace was recognized as a leader, with the company achieving the same distinction in 2014 and 2015 in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Enabled Managed Hosting, North America.

“We believe earning a position as a leader in the first year of this new Magic Quadrant is an honor. We are fortunate to be the only managed cloud services provider that is recognized at the highest tiers of the partner programs of AWS, Google and Microsoft. We’re experiencing strong growth in our managed cloud services for the leading pubic clouds and expect that trend to continue as we innovate on our products,” said Jeff Cotten, president of Rackspace.

According to Cotten, the initial managed services offerings for AWS and Microsoft Azure was launched by the company in 2015, and in those two years it has achieved the leader position while also adding Google Cloud Platform, bringing the top cloud providers in the world under its direction.

The Rackspace platform provides hosting for more than 69 percent of the Fortune 100 and it is the number one provider for the Internet Retailer Top 1000. The company has over 30 DevOps certifications in Chef, Windows PowerShell and Salt, 200+ Microsoft certifications, 160+ RedHat certifications and it is also an Oracle Gold Partner, MySQL Certified Hosting Partner.

Rackspace delivers its services in industry-leading SLAs with an infrastructure that has physical security, power, cooling and networks with at least N+1 redundancy for each, promising a 100 percent network and infrastructure uptime guarantee. The company was one of seven MSPs in the Leaders quadrant, and according to Gartner, its “completeness of vision and ability to execute” was one of the many reasons it was placed there.
