Unigma Founder Talks Latest Tech Trends

By Alicia Young

In 2016, certain innovations came to the forefront of the tech industry. APIs, artificial intelligence (AI), the cloud and virtual reality (VR) have all garnered a lot of attention over the past 12 months. Changes to the cloud have been especially eye-opening as more and more companies feel safe utilizing it to save and share data.

Unigma, a unified cloud management platform, has been especially affected by the fact that more people are trusting the cloud with their data. The company is dedicated to helping IT organizations simplify, automate and secure any workloads in AWS, Azure and Google clouds. Unigma was founded by Kirill Bensonoff and has been featured in a number of publications since its establishment.

Bensonoff will be representing Unigma at ITEXPO, which is being held February 8-10 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. There, he will speak on a panel during a session titled “What MSPs Need to Know About APIs” on Friday, February 10 at 9:00 a.m.

As a precursor to his panel discussion, TMC recently caught up with Bensonoff to discuss his views on the various technologies that have made a difference over the course of 2016. The full exchange can be seen below.

Are you leveraging big data/analytics to operate more efficiently?

Unigma lives on big data; we collect thousands of metrics per minute from our customers’ cloud infrastructure, and use those data points to help drive down cloud cost and improve performance.

How can artificial intelligence best be used in business applications?

AI is going to be huge, and will create additional business efficiencies. For example, there is a company called SupportBots that uses artificial intelligence to improve the support process for MSPs. There are many companies that now have “virtual assistants” that use intelligence to introduce efficiency into a business process.

To what extent are you leveraging APIs to enhance business opportunities?

Unigma lives on API. We feel that APIs will continue to increase and dominate how machine communication is done – whether that’s passing data back and forth, a chatbot talking to another bot, metrics being collected, etc. API is involved in all of them, and will continue to make integrations faster and easier.

How has the growth in the managed services market impacted your business?

As MSPs are growing, so are we. Because Unigma is focused on managing public clouds like AWS and Azure, as MSPs grow and develop more expertise, they naturally develop a stronger cloud practice, and reach out to us to help standardize all their cloud environments and drive down costs.

What emerging technology has the potential to have a disruptive impact on businesses in the coming years?

I believe AI and Virtual Reality will introduce efficiencies and create new markets for the next decade.
