Telecom Italia Sparkle and 365squared Launch SMS Booster

By Rory Lidstone

Sparkle, the International Services arm of Telecom Italia Group, this week announced the launch of a new service alongside 356squared, an international managed services provider that specializes in mobile solutions. Called SMS Booster, the new service is aimed at mobile operators and provides Application-to-Person SMS traffic monetization along with spam and fraudulent SMS filtering.

To provide these, SMS Booster draws on Sparkle’s Application-to-Person (A2P) gateway and 365squared’s firewall managed services.

This news comes roughly a month after Sparkle opted to use GENBAND’s Kandy to enhance its own voice and SMS operations. Sparkle has put Kandy to use bringing voice, video and other options to Sparkle Mobile Network Service Provider customers

“With SMS Booster, Sparkle reaffirms how customers’ needs are at the center of our strategy,” said Stefano Olivieri, vice president Line of Business Voice and Mobile at Sparkle. “SMS Booster allows customers to take control of their SMS traffic and generate new revenue streams in a Capex and Opex free model, providing at the same time a valuable protection for mobile operator subscribers against fraudulent traffic.”

Traditionally, mobile operators have had limited control and visibility in terms of incoming A2P SMS traffic. This results in revenue leakage, high signaling costs, and even customer complaints for spamming and fraudulent traffic.

SMS Booster combats all of this in a single sophisticated, all-in-one solution thanks to the Sparkle SMS transit platform, which comprises a wide network of worldwide aggregators and direct connection with major over-the-top (OTT) providers. Meanwhile, 365squared’s state-of-the-art SMS managed filtering service includes 24/7 business intelligence and monitoring by a dedicated team. The SMS Booster solution is offered via a business model approach based on a revenue sharing/success fee approach.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with TI Sparkle,” said Tonio Ellul, CEO of 365squared. “Our experience and expertise in providing world-class managed services together with the TI Sparkle network will add immense value to mobile network operators. The 365secure and 365managed services and highly experienced 365squared team will ensure significant revenue increase and customer satisfaction levels.”
