Gartner Recognizes CenturyLink as a Magic Quadrant Leader

By Casey Houser

CenturyLink announced recently that Gartner Inc. has recognized it as a leader in its latest report, Magic Quadrant for Cloud-Enabled Managed Hosting, Europe.

Gartner's Magic Quadrant reports analyze players within various markets, and ranks each one according to its completeness of vision and ability to execute its plans. This includes deciding how well each business understands its market, its ability to innovate, its perceived viability within its market, and its offering of customer service.

Overall, Gartner describes the leaders -- those who provide the most complete visions alongside the strongest levels of execution -- as companies that "have staying power in this market, can frequently innovate on their existing products, and can be relied on for enterprise-class needs. They have proved their technical competence and ability to deliver services to a wide range of customers."

Most recently, CenturyLink has found itself in the news regarding its new cloud node at its Toronto TR1 facility. The node will help businesses in Canada use a number of self-service cloud features that can drive mission-critical business applications. Customers will also be able to use public cloud, collocation, managed services, and network solutions through the node.

In May, CenturyLink also announced that it would begin offering a service that could help mitigate distributed denial of service attacks. The service combines computer technology with teams of information technology experts to "stop malicious packets from getting through to a network, over CenturyLink's own networks, third-party networks or networks on customer premises," TMC previously reported.

CenturyLink offers a broad base of services to its customers, and Fiona Cullen, managing director, EMEA, at CenturyLink Technology Solutions, said it is her company's commitment to its broad portfolio that has allowed it to reach Leader status.

"Many of the world's largest businesses turn to CenturyLink as their trusted technology partner," Cullen said. "We believe our recognition as a leader in the Magic Quadrant for Cloud-Enabled Managed Hosting, Europe, underscores our ability to help organizations achieve success through our continued commitment to delivering the most complete portfolio of technology services."
