The Internet is a collection of networks built by all the carriers, ISP and network operators offering access. For the peering to take place and work efficiently Internet Exchanges (IX or IXP – Internet Exchange Point) provide a neutral local network where they can connect and exchange traffic. TELEHOUSE, a global data center operator and international Internet exchange, announced that one of the largest IXs, the New York International Exchange (NYIIX), has launched a new and improved website.
The NYIIX is operated by TELEHOUSE and the goal of upgrading the website is to provide members access to information on the architecture, current members, statistics and any new development news on the IX. According to the company, enterprises will be able to establish and maintain quality peering connections with a reliable and scalable service to meet the demand of operators in one of the busiest corridors in the world.
As smartphones and tablets continue to increase in adoption, this area will be even busier than before and the NYIIX has to be improved in order to accommodate the needs of all the operators involved in delivering a reliable Internet service.
The new site is optimized to simplify navigation so representatives can be contacted easily by integrating the latest technology to allow for compatibility with different browsers and mobile technology. The site also allows users to share products and services with other members of the community using social media such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and more.
