Windstream Partners With Racemi to Provide Cloud Hosting Solution

By Casey Houser

Cloud and managed hosting provider Windstream Hosted Solutions announced this week that it has partnered with software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider Racemi. The pair will work together to help enterprises transfer their locally hosted data onto cloud servers owned by Windstream.

Windstream announced the company will use proprietary Racemi software to manage data transfers. The Racemi Cloud Path SaaS software will allow businesses to continue their daily operations without interference from the transferring of information. All backups will take place in the background, and higher-level processes will be allowed to run normally in the foreground. So, employees will not see transfers taking place, and they may not know anything is happening behind the scenes.

For IT admins, Cloud Path provides them full control over data transfers with its self-service portal, which is now integrated into Windstream's cloud portal.

Many businesses still hold important enterprise-related data on physical servers located within their own offices. This can be inefficient and unreliable for a number of reasons. Businesses that host their own servers may not have the resources or the manpower to replace or upgrade physical server components with growing markets. They are not able to keep up with the latest technology, and they lose out on speed, reliability, and features.

Older physical components may become unreliable after a period of time, as well. As they age, servers wear down and can break, which can cause a catastrophic loss of data. Small or midsize enterprises that rely on only a few servers could see a bulk of their important data lost with a single server crash.

Furthermore, even experienced admins may find transferring data between servers to be an overwhelming task. If they are upgrading their own local systems, different server types could present compatibility problems. And backing up data from local servers to the cloud is not always as straightforward as it could be. Windstream offers a backup solution that is easy for admins to manage and maintain, saving businesses from downtime and headaches associated with other data hosting solutions.
