Interxion and OnApp Join Forces for CloudPOD to Deliver Cloud Services Rapidly

By Matt Paulson

On April 1, Interxion and OnApp revealed the immediate availability of a tool set to accelerate the testing and launch of cloud-based services which they collaborated on called, CloudPOD.

Interxion is a European provider of cloud and carrier-neutral colocation services and enlisted OnApp's expertise in Infrastructure-as-a-Service to bolster the ability to deliver these services. The result is that CloudPOD provides an all-in-one package that combines OnApp's cloud management platform with some of the best software, hardware, hosting and connectivity options in the industry.

CloudPOD is particularly helpful for service providers who aim to build or expand enterprise-grade cloud platforms because it provides them with a single application that handles all of their needs for software, hardware, connectivity and data centers. The service is available for delivery at any of Interxion's 36 European data centers in 11 different countries.

“With data centers in 11 countries, and a choice of Connectivity providers, the CloudPOD is particularly attractive to large hosts and telecos looking for an easy way to expand their cloud footprint in Europe,” says OnApp CEO Ditlev Bredahl.

According to Interxion Cloud Marketing Manager Jelle Frank van der Zwet, “The cloud market is crowded with various providers vying for service superiority and market share, with many providers uncertain about how their cloud will perform... To help service providers improve their service development and stay competitive, CloudPOD ensures they can instantly deploy a new cloud service when and where it is market ready.”

Service providers who would like to try out the product before committing to CloudPOD are also in luck, because they may try the product for free, thanks to the CloudPOD Test Lab located in the Interexion City of London data center campus. Here, service providers can obtain realistic results for several different scenarios, and see how well those scenarios match up with their needs.
