Wipro to Support Siemens Teamcenter Portfolio

It used to be that someone could invent a widget and with little know-how and some luck, this widget would become a bestseller for a considerable amount of time. That was then. In today's hyper competitive environment, it is not enough to just create a great product; its lifecycle has to be properly managed to ensure its success from conception to obsolescence. Having the right platform to manage the product will determine how far it goes in the marketplace. This is true whether is a digital or a physical product.

Wipro Ltd., a global information technology, consulting and outsourcing company announced it was launching a cloud-based product lifecycle management (PLM) service supporting the Siemens PLM Teamcenter Software portfolio.

As one of the most widely used PLM digital lifecycle management software platforms in the world, Teamcenter is a cloud PLM that provides fast deployment and simplified scalability with a cost-effective solution access to enterprise grade IT infrastructure and resources. It is delivered with infrastructure as a service (IaaS) platform with a pay-as-you-go model that allows developers to save on costs during every stage of a product development. Infrastructure resources can be accessed instantly to meet demand as they require without substantial upfront investments.

"This new service offering further strengthens our strong alliance with Siemens PLM Software to support Teamcenter customers. We have witnessed the value that Teamcenter brings by enhancing collaboration among different stakeholder teams during the entire product lifecycle. Teamcenter on the cloud provides added benefits of flexibility and cost-effectiveness,” said Prasad Bhatt, vice president, Product Engineering Services at Wipro.

The platform is also certified and ready to be deployed in Amazon Web Services, with a full support plan for Microsoft’s Windows Azure and IBM.

“Electronics and semiconductor manufacturers must continuously deliver new products to overcome the challenges of rapid obsolescence, increasing competition, growing product complexity and extended global value chain. We are confident that Wipro’s expertise in the electronics and semiconductor industry coupled with these new services create a compelling reason to adopt Teamcenter on the cloud," said Caroll Jarvis, vice president, Global Alliance Sales at Siemens PLM Software.
