Dimension Data Wins Workplace Award

By Doug Barney

Dimension Data brings in nearly $6 billion a year providing ICT services and solutions. It is also apparently a great place to work. The company was just named to the Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces in the U.S. list. The criteria are that the company demonstrates leadership and takes pains to make sure employees are engaged.

“The companies named in the Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces understand that employee engagement is not just a buzzword, but it provides a unique competitive advantage. Companies that focus on employee success see better alignment with business objectives and company values,” said Achievers CEO Patrick D. Quirk. “These companies serve as role models for other businesses to engage their own employees and build success.”

The more specific criteria, of which there are eight, include Culture. Leadership, Communication, Professional & Personal Growth, Rewards & Recognition, Accountability & Performance, Vision & Values and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Fourteen judges came from an array of organizations, such as the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA), Human Capital Institute (HCI), Northern California HR Association, and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Dimension’s CEO of the Americas sees the award as testament to the company’s effort and culture.

“Dimension Data is committed to helping our employees feel like they are integral to our business success through numerous engagement programs, including recognition, merit-based compensation, coaching and mentoring, and a strong culture that builds team spirit while giving back to the local community, said Mark Slaga, CEO of Dimension Data Americas. “Our focus on creating a positive, meaningful work experience is why Dimension Data consistently receives top employee engagement scores. We're proud of our team and will continue to implement programs that inspire, motivate and build results-oriented engagement.

Achievers offers a cloud-based Employee Success Platform that is built to recognize and reward employees.

Dimension Employees Drive One Active MSP

One of Dimension’s biggest businesses is communications, and here it added to its cred having been granted Cisco’s Advanced IP Next-Generation Network Architecture Specialization. This specialization means Dimension can sell and deploy Cisco IP Next Generation Networks, which are robust high-bandwidth networks based on Cisco gear that can handle the demands of the cloud, mobile and video.

Part of the communication’s effort is a nearly year-old managed service around Microsoft Lync. “With compelling enhancements such as improved enterprise architecture and voice, HD video conferencing, and SKYPE federation coming in Lync 2013, demand for Lync is set to grow within our client base,” said Peter Menadue, Dimension Data General Manager for Microsoft Solutions. “In fact, we have already received great interest in the platform. Dimension Data has tremendous experience as a managed services provider, and more and more clients were asking us to support and manage their Lync infrastructure. It therefore made sense for us offer Managed Services for Microsoft Lync. This service complements our existing Cloud Services for Lync, Managed Services for IPT and our Managed Services for Visual Communications offerings.”
