MSP Raffa Using Zetta.net SaaS BDR Solution to Backup Customer Data

By Laura Stotler

In a new partnership designed to offer their customers a 100-percent backup reliability and restore rate, MSP Raffa, P.C. has deployed a cloud backup and disaster recovery (BDR) solution from Zetta.net. The Zetta.net DataProtect cloud offering enables the service provider to offer enterprise-grade BDR services to its customers at 10 times regular speeds.

Raffa had been conducting IT audits for its customers when the MSP discovered many of their customers’ existing backup solutions weren’t working properly. With as many as 400 clients being serviced at any time, the company needed a reliable solution to offer their customers and they needed it quick.

"It was a disaster waiting to happen," said Nate Solloway, technical outsourcing manager at Raffa. "We found many new clients who thought they had a working backup solution in place, only to learn the hard way -- it wasn't."

The DataProtect solution from Zetta.net was an ideal choice since no backup appliance and the related startup costs that go with it are required. The offering is provided on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) basis, and integrates local, offsite, archiving and DR capabilities into a single solution. It is also easy to install and manage through a software agent that doesn’t require a reboot after installation. It may be put in place within minutes, with data backup occurring within 24 hours.

"One of our clients lost all their data due to a local hardware failure and we had to rebuild it from the backup," said Solloway. "We were able to restore all the files back from Zetta.net within 24 hours."

The DataProtect solution also enables large data sets to be moved quickly. In one instance, Raffa was able to restore data for a client from backups to external hard drives at a separate location, getting the customer back up and running within hours.

Zetta.net also provides a multi-tenant management portal which gives service providers daily backup reports and enables them to monitor, manage and recover data for their customers from anywhere through a single browser window.
