A Tel Aviv security tool has a holiday present for cloud users – a free file sanitization service.
Votiro is aiming the service at reducing cyber-threats and zero-day attacks. “Our Secure Data Sanitization solution provides zero-day protection that eliminates malicious cyber-threats before they have a chance to penetrate an organization's network and attack critical IT infrastructure and extract sensitive data,” said Itay Glick, Founder and CEO of Votiro. “Our new cloud service allows organizations to experience the strengths of our sanitization process and understand the overall benefits of our Secure Data Sanitization solution.”
The tool takes uploaded files and examines them for malicious code, which it can then reportedly be blocked by changing the file’s structure so the malware is neutralized. At the same time it scans the file using a variety of anti-virus engines. For enterprises serious about this form of security, Votiro has a service that integrates with the customer’s IT infrastructure, and scans “all incoming files, including files attached to emails, downloaded from the Internet and transferred from removable media. This comprehensive process does not affect the usability of a file and is seamlessly integrated into an organization's IT infrastructure,” the company said.
The enterprise solution is based on an on-premises hardware appliance. “The device integrates a hardened operating system with physical read-only barriers, together with embedded anti-virus programs and a robust zero-day threat cleaning mechanism. This ensures that regardless of the source or format, whether it is sent via direct file transfer, email or removable media, all data is automatically screened before it reaches the organization’s network,” the company said. The free service is a way for potential customer to test the technology, and if they like what they see, opt for the fuller protection of the hardware appliance.
Partner Play
Votiro believes it has something partners want and is currently revamping its partner program, and hoping to release details soon. In particular, the company is looking for integrators and resellers. Votiro, now 4 years old, has customers in telecommunications, utilities, banking and finance and service providers.
