XO Communications Given Supplier Performance Excellence Award by USPS

By Rory Lidstone

XO Communications, a nationwide provider of advanced IP communications, managed network and hosted IT services was recently recognized by the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) with a 2012 Supplier Performance Excellence Award. Specifically, the company was given this award for "delivering optimum solutions that reduce costs, enhance performance, maintain high levels of service and provide innovative and sustainable solutions."

The award was given out at a recent ceremony held at the USPS headquarters in Washington, DC. In total, ten suppliers were recognized with awards in one of five categories, including Supplier Performance, Supplier Excellence, Supplier Innovation, Supplier Diversity and Supplier Sustainability Excellence.

"The United States Postal Service does business with more than 20,000 suppliers each year. To receive one of these awards is a real achievement," said Postmaster General Patrick R. Donahoe of the U.S. Postal Service. "It is essential that we have a world-class chain of suppliers to provide consistently outstanding service to our customers. Each of you is a significant link in that chain, and working together, we deliver for the American people."

XO Communications first started working with the USPS in February of 2011, having been awarded a six-year Telecom Integrated Postal Network (TIPN) contract with expected potential revenue of $45 million to provide managed network services to USPS facilities. Some of the managed services include MPLS IP-VPN and Dedicated Internet Access, which are provided to over 1,400 USPS facilities in total.

XO's solution provides a secure, intelligent and managed network solution to connect operations and converge voice, video and data communications, as well as prioritize Internet, intranet, extranet, voice, video and mission-critical applications.

"XO Communications is extremely pleased and honored to receive the U.S. Postal Service Supplier Performance Award for the outstanding support provided by our employees and our IP and data networking solutions," said Laura Thomas, CEO of XO Communications. "This award demonstrates the core of our brand values to deliver the best customer experience in the communications industry and highlights our strong relationship with the Postal Service."
