Dimension Data Expands Managed Services to Incorporate Microsoft Lync

By Monica Gleberman

Dimension Data is growing its product line to include a new managed services portfolio for Unified Communications. Although details on the products are still being worked out, Dimension Data said one of the managed service solutions would incorporate the ever-popular Microsoft Lync.

Managed services have become a highly demanded service for outsourcing day-to-day IT management responsibilities as a way for improving operations. Companies can use these services for everything including business-to-business integration, network management, user management, information services, and communication services.

Due to the high popularity of Microsoft Lync, Peter Menadue, Dimension Data’s general manager for Microsoft Solutions, said it’s essential that the company provides its clients with lync capability.

“With compelling enhancements, such as improved enterprise architecture and voice, HD video conferencing, and Skype federation, expected for Lync 2013, demand for Lync is set to grow within our client base,” said Menadue. “In fact, we have already received great interest in the platform. Dimension Data has tremendous experience as a managed services provider, and we found more and more clients asking us to support and manage their Lync infrastructure.”

In addition, Menadue added that this new add-on to Dimension Data’s already popular services would just enhance their current services. “This service complements our existing Cloud Services for Lync, Managed Services for IPT and Managed Services for Visual Communication Offerings.”

Giovanni Mezgac, Microsoft general manager for Lync, said the decision from Dimension to add Lync capabilities just made sense. “Dimension Data has a long and successful track record architecting and deploying solutions for Microsoft Lync,” said Mezgac. “The addition of Managed Services for Microsoft Lync alongside their licensing, support, and cloud services for Lync helps ensure organizations have end-to-end professional care of their Lync environment. Dimension Data’s expanding portfolio for Lync is great news for our customers.”
