Amdocs Signs Five-Year Managed Services Contract with Mobiltel

By Frank Griffin

Mobiltel (Mtel) is a major provider of mobile communication services in Bulgaria. In 2005, the company was acquired completely by the Telekom Austria Group, and fully integrated by 2006.

Even during the global economic crisis, the company enjoyed relatively strong growth in its mobile and other communications solutions via more than 5.5 million customers in the country. The growth it is experiencing requires the right management to ensure the service Mobiltel provides is delivered with reliability.

By contracting Amdocs to take on Mobiltel’s data center, disaster recovery and business support system operations for mobile, broadband and IPTV, it’ll have a company with more than 30 years of experience to ensure quality service delivery.

The five-year managed service contract will give Amdocs the responsibility of many of Mobiltel’s IT operations across all lines of business.

The contract also includes additional managed services for app development, managing integration, hardware procurement, testing and maintenance.

Both companies have been collaborating for more than five years. Since 2007, Amdocs has been implementing its customer management, billing, ordering, products catalog and rating system at Mtel. The new agreement will expand on these services and add 17 other legacy and third-party systems.

This will improve the company’s ability to offer more services and customer service across the country.

Amdocs wants to get a better handle on the operational and business performance levels, as well as problem resolution, billing transparency, introduction of new services and reductions to call to customer call centers, by improving the overall operations of the organization.

“By expanding our relationship with Amdocs to include its acclaimed IT operational support, we will be able to achieve high performance levels with a highly efficient cost structure. This managed services agreement is a significant milestone in our strategy to consolidate our operations to become a true, multi-play provider, and will help us to further differentiate ourselves, while offering an exceptional customer experience,” said Horst Pertl, chief technology officer at Mtel.

Amdocs is ranked 12th in the Global Outsourcing 100 list for providing service for many different industries. The overall managed services agreement the company has in place totals more than half a billion subscribers around the world, incorporating a leading product portfolio that has given its customers services driven by value for more than 30 years.

“With a business model that covers products, services and IT operational capabilities specific to communications service providers, Amdocs offers its managed services customers full accountability and expertise in supporting their highly complex systems and operational environments. By freeing itself from day-to-day IT operations and by establishing a single point of contact for multiple suppliers, Mtel will be able to focus on its customers, marketing initiatives and business growth,” said Rebecca Prudhomme, vice president of product and solutions marketing at Amdocs.
