SMBs Will Have Access to ALVEA's Managed Network Security

By Michael Guta

Network security threats not only affect enterprise-class organizations, but SMBs as well. Oftentimes these small businesses are under more scrutiny from cyber-criminals because the security system they have in place is not as robust as their larger counterparts.

The introduction of the ALVEA Managed Network Security service is specifically created to provide the protections these companies need without putting them out of business.

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) contend with many different problems in their daily operations. Network security issues are generally not in the forefront unless they’ve been a victim of a cybercrime.

The security solutions SMBs must implement are complicated and require an assortment of practices and technologies.

ALVEA has an enterprise-grade security solutions for SMBs that takes into account their budget and complexity. These businesses generally don’t have the capital or in house expertise to maintain complicated systems.

Network security management is critical these days for most businesses. It can be tough for SMBs to keep up with the latest security threats and the technology available to address them. Smaller businesses rely on their channel partners to provide this support and expertise. Moving to a managed service gives resellers the flexibility they need to continue meeting customer needs as the threat landscape evolves,” said Neil Gardner, professional services development and operations manager at ALVEA Services.

The service has a minimum application that includes a firewall and Virtual Private Network (VPN). It is delivered with a choice of hardware and security appliances made by market-leading manufacturers.

The new service is specially created for smaller businesses instead of the existing ALVEA Managed Security Gateway for large enterprises.

The service provides resellers with the option of selecting the best solution for the clients network needs. The array of network and security tools includes: firewall, VPN and traffic shaping; an Intrusion Prevention System; anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-malware and anti-spam; application control; data loss prevention; Web content filtering; SSL VPN for remote access; Ipv6 Support; and a Wireless controller.

The solution is managed centrally by ALVEA Services and is available for every business, even if they don’t have appliances and infrastructure in place. The customer doesn’t have to purchase any of the products him/herself, and the firm supplies the management, support, maintenance, hardware and software licenses.
