Sherweb Adds Microsoft 365 Backup Powered by Veeam

Many companies worldwide use Microsoft 365. However, about 55% of companies that use Microsoft 365 are not backing up their Microsoft 365 data beyond Microsoft’s built-in capabilities, according to the 2021 Veeam Data Protection Report. With more companies operating in a hybrid work environment today, backing up data rose in importance – particularly when considering the increase in cyber attacks globally that put business data at risk.

That is why cloud solutions provider Sherweb added Microsoft 365 backup powered by Veeam, a backup as a service solution, to its growing portfolio of cloud products.

BaaS is not the most common as-a-Service term, so what is it exactly?  To put into simple terms, Backup-as-a-Service is another way of saying online backup or cloud backup – a way of storing data remotely in the cloud and having the service provider provide and manage the necessary backup and recovery infrastructure, software and support services.

The BaaS solution leverages Veeam’s proficiency in backup, recovery and data management to deliver a simple way to preserve Microsoft 365 data and restore it in case of a disaster. With Veeam’s Microsoft 365 backup services, Sherweb will backup and restore data in Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Teams.

The solution will also enable Sherweb to store backups on-premises or in the cloud through a VCSP partner to meet the 3-2-1 backup rule as well as access, monitor and manage their Microsoft 365 backups with granular restore options to retrieve data.

“Our MSP partners have been asking for an easy way to back up their clients’ Microsoft 365 data,” said André Boutet, vice president of cloud products at Sherweb. “We are excited to offer a new backup as a service solution that will not only protect their clients’ data from internal and external threats, but also add to their bottom line.”

Microsoft 365 powered by Veeam is available in Sherweb’s marketplace for MSPs to offer clients based in the U.S. and Canada.
