CISOs are Likely to Outsource Security Program Improvements

CISOs are Likely to Outsource Security Program Improvements

By Stefania Viscusi

Managed security services provider (MSSP) Nuspire, recently released findings from its annual research study looking at the trends, challenges and priorities faced by CISO’s today when it comes to security-related purchasing decisions.

Nuspire offers managed security services (MSS), managed detection and response (MDR), endpoint detection and response (EDR) and cybersecurity consulting services (CSC)  and more to help CISOs sort through all of the tech and become more secure over time.

The study found that, when it comes to ensuring their businesses are protected, most CISOs and IT security decision makers today are worried about whether their overall security programs include the necessary tools to properly monitor, detect and respond to threats around the clock.

Two-thirds of CISOs also said they believe their organization is vulnerable to attack. In particular they are concerned about cloud applications, end users and cloud infrastructure, which have become increasingly necessary for hybrid and remote workforces.

"The shift to remote work, a significant increase in threat volume and the ongoing cybersecurity talent shortage are some of the biggest challenges facing CISOs today – challenges they're expected to address with limited resources," said Michelle Bank, Nuspire's Chief Product and Marketing Officer.

To help prevent security breaches, CISOs said they believe end users and employees should be given more training and education to understand things like ransomware and phishing attacks and the damage they can do.

"CISOs are prioritizing their spending based on where they get the most value, and our latest research study shows that CISOs are putting their limited dollars toward staying up to date and optimizing existing technology," said Bank.

Of the solutions they’re most likely to outsource for security program improvements; monitoring, detecting and responding to threats 24/7; and technology optimization and integrations top the list to provide peace of mind that the best offerings are being used.
