CiRBA's New Reservation Console Automates Cloud Workload Management

Organizations can now automate their new workload routing and capacity reservations processes, making cloud workload management more efficient and removing a large manual burden. CiRBA has announced a new Reservation Console that automates what is now a tedious manual process.

The new solution, which will be available in November, selects the optimal hosting environment for new workloads while reserving compute and storage capacity in advance of use, and also provides detailed host level placement recommendations for workloads. It offers a tunable scoring system that scientifically identifies the optimal destination environment for new workloads, ensuring cloud environments are running at optimal efficiency.

The Reservation Console also provides a Hosting Score based on criteria including occupancy levels, technical considerations, operational policies, regulatory compliance and software licensing constraints. This lets customers modify the attributes being considered as well as fine-tune their weighting to align recommendations with their preferences and organizational goals.

The end result is reduced operational risk and elimination of compliance issues, as well as demand that is balanced across all available infrastructure. This includes cloud environments, midrange systems and different physical data centers. Users may also reserve capacity in advance of actual use to ensure resources will be available for application deployments.

The new offering complements CiRBA's Booking Management System, to give users visibility into inbound capacity reservation requests as well as all available environments. This ensures routing and reservations are matched with the best environment for each request and also provides accurate forecasting of capacity requirements, to avoid expenditures on unnecessary hardware and software.

“Many internal cloud platforms focus on automating the process of provisioning capacity in a specific target environment, but this is actually a small part of the overall picture,” said Andrew Hillier, co-founder and CTO of CiRBA. “It still forces organizations to figure out which environment, geography and hosting technology is best for an application or request. This is a time consuming, inaccurate and highly manual process, and the Reservation Console solves this by automating the process of evaluating hosting options, routing capacity requests and reserving capacity in the target environment.”
