Halcyon Augments DirectDefense Against Ransomware

By Greg Tavarez

Threat actors in ransomware attacks are increasingly sophisticated, and businesses need multiple walls of defense to stop attacks from reaching their networks and exposing their most confidential information. This task is likely too daunting for an in-house team for most organizations, prompting them to reach out to MSPs and MSSPs

DirectDefense is an MSSP that delivers managed detection and response offerings to elevate a company’s security visibility for improved incident detection and action. What makes DirectDefense different from other providers is that it takes a step beyond forwarding alerts by providing investigation, triage and response of security alerts on a 24/7 basis.

As it continues to evolve its offerings and protect its partners and customers from ransomware, DirectDefense entered into a strategic partnership with Halcyon, an endpoint resilience platform built specifically to stop ransomware, and will offer the Halcyon Anti-Ransomware and Endpoint Resilience Platform.

We’re excited to bring the concept of endpoint resilience and anti-ransomware to the broader market,” said Chris Vincent, senior vice president of GTM, Halcyon. “As ransomware continues to outsmart traditional security tools, the need for purpose-driven products backed by experts like DirectDefense is critical.”

Halcyon’s platform will augment DirectDefense’s MDR offerings. The anti-ransomware solution stops attackers at all phases of a breach using a proprietary engine that specifically targets ransomware. Its pre-execution engine prevents ransomware from executing without being connected to the internet. After exploiting weaknesses commonly found in ransomware, Halcyon’s platform will force it to shut down or reveal itself before damage can be done.

The Halcyon platform also captures encryption keys generated by ransomware events, blunting the effects of the malicious software. Additionally, the platform’s built-in resiliency engine enables effortless recovery post-attack if any layer was ineffective.

“The combination of Halcyon’s AI-powered, anti-ransomware engine and our 24/7 MDR security services gives organizations peace of mind that they are receiving fast, effective and cutting-edge detection and response capabilities managed by our team of cybersecurity experts,” said Jim Broome, president, DirectDefense.
