Dimension Data Recognized by Gartner for Cloud-Enabled Managed Hosting Niche

By Laura Stotler

In the cloud-enabled managed hosting space, Dimension Data is in a key position. The company, which specializes in providing managed global ICT services, was named a Niche Player by Gartner in the research firm’s Magic Quadrant for Cloud-Enabled Managed Hosting, North America.

Gartner describes Niche Players as specialists or emerging vendors with focused product portfolios. Dimension plays in the cloud-enabled managed hosting space, focusing primarily on enterprise clients along with the company’s service provider partners. Dimension also supports ISVs by helping them develop SaaS offerings through their managed and hosted solutions.

Dimension recently strengthened its managed video services portfolio by acquiring cloud video managed services company Teliris. The move helped Dimension expand its Managed Services for Visual Communications (MSVC) segment, another niche offering. Dimension also teamed up with Microsoft earlier this year on a private CaaS offering utilizing Microsoft’ Cloud Platform.

"We are pleased to be recognized as a strong player in the cloud-enabled managed hosting environment," said Mark Slaga, CEO of Dimension Data Americas. "Our cloud business in the Americas has great momentum and scale, with recent investments in our Managed Cloud Platforms, OneCloud and Intercloud solutions."

The company’s OneCloud Partner Program is a global initiative aimed at service providers, education institutions, government agencies and trade communities. The program is designed to rapidly bring new cloud services to market using Dimension’s Managed Cloud Platform and Cloud Exchange.

As a Cisco Partner, Dimension is also playing a significant role in the company’s global Intercloud initiative, which is set to develop a globally distributed secure cloud platform. Cisco is using Dimension’s Managed Cloud Platform and SaaS offering to deliver a suite of cloud services to customers and resellers.
