Informatica Rolls Out Updated Cloud Spring 2014 Integration Platform

Data integration software provider Informatica Corporation has announced a brand new release of its cloud integration platform. Informatica Cloud Spring 2014 is designed to enable line-of-business SaaS app users and IT users to design integrations that are 100 percent in the cloud.

The updated platform, which Informatica touts as an Integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS), provides real-time application integration. Users have the choice of processing data either in the cloud or on premises. This is a major boon for cloud integration ROI, since the platform offers reusable integration designs that are completely portable across cloud, on-premises and hybrid landscapes.

The solution is powered by the Informatica Vibe Virtual Data Machine, enabling increased integration agility and speeding projects to market. The goal is to enable business analysts, SaaS application administrators and other users to collaborate with each other as well as IT departments, all with the vision of reducing time to market for new applications and data.

"Informatica Cloud Spring 2014 changes the game for cloud integration with Informatica Cloud Designer," said Ash Kulkarni, senior vice president and general manager, data integration, Informatica. "IT developers get a drag-and-drop palette for advanced integration scenarios and line-of-business applications users get a wizard-based, self-service interface - all in one unified design environment. This translates into faster time-to-value for SaaS application users, increased productivity for integration developers, and reduced IT infrastructure costs with no on-premise tools to deploy and manage."

New features include wizard-based point-and-click capabilities that speed up integration building and deployment using prebuilt templates. A drag-and-drop design palette also makes it easy to create advanced data transformations, mappings and integration workflows. The solution can also be easily embedded in third-party apps through REST APIs.

Informatica has had a busy few weeks, recently announcing a partnership with U.K. retailer Halfords Group, which is using its Product Information Management (PIM) solution to create a single version of product data within its omnichannel environment. The company also partnered with Imperva, which will resell Informatica’s data masking technology along with its SecureSphere Database Security solution. The combined offering provides database monitoring and masking across multiple applications and platforms.
