Green House Data Becomes Certified B Corporation for Social and Environmental Performance

By Laura Stotler

Cloud hosting and colocation services provider Green House Data has achieved Certified B Corporation status for its use of power to solve both environmental and social problems. Green House is the first B Corp company in Wyoming, and the certification is in line with its mission of providing a green option for enterprise IT infrastructure.

The nonprofit organization B Lab certified the company as a B Corporation for meeting rigorous standards surrounding both social and environmental performance. Green House Data also had to meet standards for accountability and transparency, as well as demonstrate a goal of redefining success in business.

Green House strives to help its enterprise customers utilize green IT infrastructure that efficiently utilizes resources. The company is powered by renewable energy and uses an energy efficient design throughout their facilities in Cheyenne, WY; Portland, OR and Newark, NJ. They also offer the Green House Gives program, which provides IT resources and support to non-profit organizations.

Moreover, the service provider is certified for VMware and is SSAE 16 Type II and HIPAA compliant. Green House is also an EPA Green Power partner.

“We built our company with sustainability and stewardship as part of our primary mission, and we’re thrilled to work with B Corp to formalize our commitments,” said Shawn Mills, president of Green House Data.

There are more than 900 Certified B Corporations throughout the world, comprising a multi-billion-dollar marketplace. Other members include New Belgium Brewing, Etsy, Patagonia and Renewable Choice.

“We are excited to welcome Green House Data as a Certified B Corporation,” added Jay Coen Gilbert, co-founder of B Lab. “The firm has shown leadership by becoming the first Certified B Corp in Wyoming and we hope they will inspire many others to join the movement using business as a force for good.”
