Expanding on its steadily growing footprint of facilities and managed services, Windstream Hosted Solutions has opened its fourth data center in Charlotte, N.C. The MSP and colocation provider now has 27 facilities throughout the U.S., offering a variety of managed and hosted solutions to enterprise customers.
Windstream specializes in offering colocation, dedicated server, managed services and disaster recovery solutions. The new Charlotte facility comprises of 39,300 square feet with more than 10,000 square feet of raised floor space. Windstream plans to expand it to reach 60,800 square feet with more than 20,000 square feet of raised floor space.
“Demand for cloud-based and dedicated managed services continues to increase exponentially,” said Chris Nicolini, Windstream's senior vice president of data center operations. “At Windstream, we are committed to designing and building data centers equipped with the highest levels of security and safety, with the redundancy and reliability our customers need, and the technology and scalability necessary to grow as their business grows.”
In October, the MSP opened a 22,000-square-foot facility in Nashville, offering a variety of communications services. The company’s data centers take advantage of Winstream’s nationwide IP network to provide VoIP, SIP trunking, MPLS and high-speed Internet services. Simultaneously, the company announced that its cloud and hosting facilities had achieved compliance with PCI DSS version 2.0, validating the company as a “Level 1” certified service provider. The achievement certifies Windstream as being in full compliance with the PCI DSS standard for storing, processing and transmitting customer payment card data.
The certification is significant as it gives enterprise customers assurance that their customer payment card data is subject to strict security controls and processes and protected against credit card fraud. Windstream was required to pass 12 measures to achieve the certification, encompassing security management, policies and procedures; physical security; network architecture; user access management; software development and network and systems monitoring.
“Windstream's data centers -- including this latest addition to the North Carolina market -- offer customers greater efficiency and availability of IT resources and applications with our cloud technologies,' said Matt Preschern, senior vice president and enterprise chief marketing officer at Windstream. 'We have the capability to serve a wide range of customers, from national chains like Belk and Bojangles to smaller businesses located in cities all across the U.S., with our experienced team delivering our unique 'smart solutions, personalized service' brand promise to each customer.”
